On Your Side Every Step Of The Way

The decision to end a marriage is rarely easy — but you don’t have to face divorce alone. At the Law Offices of Renee Lazar in Bedford, Massachusetts, we provide experienced and personal representation to people like you throughout Massachusetts.

Keeping Your Future And Your Finances In Mind

Attorney Renee Lazar, Esq., works with a diverse cross section of clients, from licensed professionals to laborers and other blue collar workers, on the full range of family law issues in Middlesex County and beyond, including:

  • Divorce, including military divorce
  • Spousal support (alimony)
  • Child custody and support
  • Paternity issues
  • Custody and support modifications

Having gone through divorce herself, Ms. Lazar understands the emotions involved and the seemingly unending stream of questions that arise.

She is also aware of the financial strain that frequently accompanies the end of a relationship, as individuals who have grown accustomed to a two-income household are suddenly staring at one. Our firm has embraced the state’s Limited Assistance Representation (LAR) program, which allows a lawyer to provide limited services to a client affordably — usually for a flat fee.

Under the LAR system, which is also known as “unbundling,” a lawyer can focus on a key component of a case and allow the client to manage the bulk of his or her case. For example, we can assist in the preparation of court pleadings, but not go to court, or we can represent you in court only for a complex matter such as child custody or modifications to an existing order.

Uniquely Qualified For Matters Involving Mental Health

Attorney Lazar has served on the Mental Health Litigation Division of the Massachusetts Committee for Public Counsel Services since 2010. The primary mandate of the Mental Health Litigation Division (MHLD) is to provide trial and appellate representation to indigent people against whom are filed petitions seeking commitment to public or private psychiatric facilities or seeking surrogate decision-making authority (e.g., guardianship or authorization to administer or terminate “extraordinary” treatment modalities).

She understands the unique challenges that mental illness poses for families dealing with divorce or other family law issues. It can impact key decisions that are made regarding custody and visitation, spousal support, guardianship and more.

In addition to family law, we counsel individuals in:

  • Employment and housing discrimination
  • Landlord-tenant issues
  • Consumer protection matters
  • Unemployment hearings
